75 years strong

Camp Fire North Shore has been an innovative leader in youth development for 75 years.

Camp Fire, formerly Camp Fire USA, is a nationwide American youth organization that began in 1910. It was the first multiracial, multicultural, and nonsectarian organization for girls. The organization has been co-ed since 1975 and welcomes all youth, regardless of gender identity, from pre-k through age 21.

Camp Fire North Shore is an independent affiliate of the national Camp Fire organization and was originally established by the Lynn Lions Club in 1949. Our headquarters were established in 2019 and are located on Chestnut Street in Lynn. We also maintain a Program Facility in Salem where we have been operating since 1971. The facility is located on the Lynn/Salem line, both Gateway Cities, and situated on 75 acres of wooded land which includes two buildings that house several large program spaces, two kitchens, changing rooms and bathrooms, as well as an inground swimming pool, a sports field, a basketball court, a “theatre in the rough”, a garden, and miles of hiking trails.

Camp Fire North Shore services school age youth from across the North Shore area. We achieve our mission by offering high-quality state licensed after school programs, 21st Century Community Learning Center programs, and a variety of summer camp programs. Our programs engage youth in Kindergarten thru 9 th grade, and are located in public and charter schools, at local colleges and at our Program Facility. We incorporate THRIVE{OLOGY}, a research based program framework developed by the Thrive Foundation for Youth, into all program areas. THRIVE{OLOGY} is our approach to teaching youth how to be a better friend, student, family member, and member of society.
